"FU(C)KUSHIMA - PORTRAIT OF A ONE YEAR PERFORMANCE" (2011-2012)

FUcKUSHIMA is a body of works, that I made between the 5th of april 2011 and the 5th of april 2012, respectively the first and the second anniversary of my daughter. This project was an homage to the work of Tehching Hsieh.

The initial point of this project were the events in the nuclear power plant of Fukushima Daiichi, in march 2011, and the way in which the press would deal with this new "SUPERGAU", 25 years after Tchernobyle.

The "visible" part of this project is about human relations / conditions in a totally contaminated world. The "invisible part" can be seen as being about exploitation, adaptation, work, time, exclusion, politics and self-awareness in a time of collective madness. (details here)

The complete body of work was purchased by the Ministry of Culture, in late 2012. It featured over 90 paintings, 3 sculptures, all the "relics" of the performance and a video.
