"THE VOID" (DOMMAGE PAS D'HOMMAGE) (2021-2022)

- artistic desillusion  -

In late 2021, I decided to fill a "Void." I aimed to create educational materials for schools, spanning from ages 3 to 18, encompassing the spectrum from preschool to the first year after high school. To achieve this, I utilized the biography of a Luxembourgish artist (whom I won't name here) that deeply inspired me through his work and his conceptual approach to art. I contemplated how an artist and their work, with its diversity and conceptual nature, could be presented or brought closer to children and adolescents. The intention was to transcend the boundaries of art as a school subject and provide even "non-art-interested" educators with the opportunity to incorporate these themes into their lessons. The art education was meant to be "decompartmentalized," reaching beyond local art scenes.

However, collaboration and discussions with the involved galleries and the artist's heirs proved to be more complicated than anticipated. In conclusion, I believe it cannot be doubted or denied that I pursued this endeavor not just because I could but because I truly wanted to!

After years of weaving cultural tales in Esch's embrace,

I unearthed a void, a silence in the scholastic space.

No tailored tools for young minds to explore,

Neither in primary nor secondary, a lamentable lore.

In the realm of Visual Arts, a barren canvas stretches wide,

Luxembourgish students yearn, in creative realms to confide.

A scarcity of hues, a palette left untamed,

In this artistic wilderness, young talents remain unnamed.

As for Luxembourgish artisans, a whisper in the wind,

Almost nonexistent, their presence thinned.

Echoes of their craft, faint in the air,

In this cultural tapestry, a threadbare affair.
